Description

Purpose: To help fulfill the mission of Hill Country Christian School of Austin by providing human resources, benefits administration, payroll, and business office support. The position is responsible for the overall administration of the Human Resources function at the school.

Accountability: Reports to the Chief Financial Officer

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-Time

Qualifications/Skills:

•Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin's Core Values and Statement of Faith.

•Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.

•A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required.

•A minimum of five years of human resource management experience required.

•Knowledge of employment laws and practices. Experience in administration of all benefit programs (401k, Healthcare, COBRA, etc..) and other human resource programs.

•Excellent computer skills to include spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and record keeping.

•Must have ability to pay close attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

•Effective oral and written communication. Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.

•Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

With respect to benefits:

•Manage employee benefit programs, including the open enrollment process, COBRA, and employer communication.

•Maintain relationships with 401k Partners (TPA, Investment Provider, Financial Advisor), coordinate annual review & recommend and manage changes to program annually.

•Maintain relationships with all Benefit Providers and Broker for all health offerings, coordinate annual review & recommend and manage changes to program annually.

•Manage HR Specialist who is responsible for day-to-day benefits administration & processing, reconciling of monthly benefit statements & administration of disability & worker's compensation claims.

With respect to personnel:

•Owns the entire Employee Lifecycle Management process (Recruiting, Hiring, Onboarding, & Termination).

•Responsible for the administration of the human resources information system (HRIS). Serve as the school contact and expert on the overall system and various modules.

•Manage the recruitment process by identifying open positions, posting jobs, and assisting the hiring manager with the managing of applicants in the HRIS.

•Flag any background check concerns for review with hiring manager and/or Head of School.

•Ensure new hires receive an offer letter and role description. Confirm formal acceptance is received in writing or e-signature

•Prepare and track employment agreements for existing employees and new hires.

•Respond to reference checks and verifications of employment status.

•Ensure thorough, timely off-boarding and exiting practices for all staff

•Develop, edit, update, and maintain job descriptions as needed.

•Create a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keep the strategy up to date.

•Coordinate compensation adjustment process with the Head of School & Chief Financial Officer.

•Provide necessary education and materials to managers to assist them in personnel management. Counsel managers on employment issues.

•Investigate employee issues and conflicts, bring them to resolution and manage disciplinary actions.

•Manage HR Specialist who is responsible for payroll processing & reconciliations, personnel database management and performance evaluation templates & resources.

With respect to compliance:

•Drive the development, annual updates and implementation of the employee handbook and new personnel policies and procedures. Recommend and draft new policies and procedures when needed.

•Partner with management to communicate human resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.

•Ensure compliance with federal and state statutes for Affordable Care Act (ACA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, sexual harassment, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

•Responsible to ensure all employment bulletin boards have current regulations posted. Work to develop in-house training programs that address training needs in areas of employment law and management development.

•Select content for and supervise assignment and tracking of required faculty/staff training for employee health and safety, CPR, child abuse, sexual harassment, etc.

•Manage HR Specialist who is responsible for benefits compliance, HR documentation, document retention & compliance and audit support.

Other Responsibilities:

•Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

•Interact in a Christ-like manner at all times. Utilize the interpersonal relationship method of "Matthew 18" as commanded by Jesus Christ.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

•Must be able to remain in a stationary position the majority of the time.

•Frequently move about inside campus buildings and outside on the grounds.

•Operate a computer much of the time and frequently a copy machine.

•Must be able to exchange accurate and professional information whether in person, via email, or via telephone. Frequently communicates with co-workers and others.

•Possess physical stamina required to fulfill the professional obligations of the specific faculty assignment. Occasional lifting of 5 to 20 pounds.

•Must be flexible and adapt to various schedules and administrative changes.

•Ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent interruptions.

•Possible exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.
